I am assuming that both of your AirPort Express Base Stations are 802.11n models ... correct? If so, please check out the following Apple Support article for details on setting up an extended 802.11n wireless network just to be sure nothing was missed when you set up yours.

First, the obvious question.....have you verified that the Ethernet cable is working correctly by testing it on another connection?

Check the bedroom AirPort Express using AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Wireless tab to make sure that the option to allow the network to be extended has been checked.

Then check the second AirPort Express to make sure that it has been configured to "Extend a wireless network"

Test with the second AirPort Express in close proximity to the first, then move the Express a room or two away and test again. If you lose the Ethernet connection at some point, the Express is located too far from the Express to receive an adequate signal.

    Thanks All!

I have tested the cord, it's good.

NOTE: When I connect the ethernet cord to the Airport and look at Network in System Preferences it shows red, and unconnected.

My 2nd airport looks a little different fro yours Bob...........

It should look identical other than the wireless network name if you have the right product and right settings.

Check the model number on the label on the side of the 2nd AirPort Express. You must see A1264 or have a "new" Express that became available in June.

If you have A1084 or A1088, that version of the Express cannot be used for the purpose that you want....there is no setting to "Extend a wireless network" on these models.

That would explain the problem. You need an A1264 or A1392 AirPort Express.

I am puzzled though on how you managed to configure the old Express to "extend" when you mentioned that it was configured that way.  That configuration setting does not exist on the model that you have.

No need to post any screen shots if the AirPort Express that you have is a Model A1084 or A1088 and it displays a Wireless Mode of "Join a wireless network" in AirPort Utility.

Bob, I've got one 1284 and one 1064.  I'd need to replace my 1064 to make this happen?

    I've got one 1284

You mean A1264, I believe.  There is no model number A1284.

    and one 1064

That would be A1084. There is no model number A1084.

I'd need to replace my 1064 to make this happen?

That is correct. The version A1084 that you have does not have the feature that you need.
