iMessage and FaceTime stopped working...

Hi, everyone, this is my first post.

I used to regard myself as a poweruser but guess what, since yesterday I have spent almost 20 hours trying to solve this seems trivial problem.

and I gave up, I will not put IT on my CV again.

It all starts from iOS 5, I've forgotten since when my beloved iPhone no longer have the long battery life it used to have.

I decided yesterday to try a simple reset (without deleting data) on my iPhone to see if it would restore the battery life.

After that, I don't even have time to test the battery, I found my imessage and facetime no longer work.

It shows waiting for activation and not letting me to sign in with my apple id ("cannot connect to server due to error, try again" message)

So not even I can't receive imessage on my phone number, I can't receive by email too. Does anyone got any idea about this?

Please don't tell me to reset or something like that, I've tried all kinds of reset, they simply won't work on this phone.

Here's what I've tried:

1. reset network

2. reset all settings

3. restore to a previous backup

4. restore as a new device

5. DFU restore

6. take out sim card and put it back.

7. turn off wifi or 3g

8. remove imessage beta from my computer

.......

.......

I'm in New Zealand by the way. But I'm pretty sure the server's good as my iPad can still use these functions.

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1

i've sent a feedback. but i guess they'll just treat that as spam.

Why would they do that? Why would they go to all the trouble to put up a feedback page and then treat feedback as spam. There have been a number of issues in the past where people lots of people have submitted feedback and, what do you know? Apple made the changes. The most recent was the slider button on the side of the iPad. People wanted the function to be selectable. Now, it is.

I hope I never become that cynical.

of course it would be different, there are too many possible reasons for a result, for example it could be the problem with your card or they simply don't want to accept your card because you are on a suspect list of using stolen or false cards. It's nothing to do with vexing or pleasing somebody, its ethics, I don't know if you understand the concept of informed choices, would you be happy if your doctor just tell you that you gonna die without letting you know why or what disease you have got just because you gonna die anyway.

I'm not being cynical, I admit their phone service was the best in the industry and has been a model for many companies. if it is product issue and many people experienced it then they will consider it seriously. but i'm afraid this has to do with their policy issues. Also, it is interesting to acknowledge that they are quite insist on their product philosophy and integrity, some may call it stubborn. but that was the reason I like their products. For example, when the first iphone was release there were many asking them to put on a physical keyboard.

Just see, i'll be surprised if I get a reponse for this feedback.

well, should be 1 and half year, must have mixed up the time with previous one. I rarely call except for hardware issues, besides it was a sunday in NZ when I was doing all these, I don't know if the call centre was available.

Anyway I can sign in using Apple ID now but phone number is still waiting for activation have you noticed anything?
