Exactly which files did you copy?
- Quit iTunes.
- Copy the entire /iTunes/ folder frn one external to the other.
- Hold Shift, launch iTunes.
- Select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder you want on the external.

Jul 22, 2012 11:46 AM in response to Chris CAby spike321,there were a bunch of files - such as ituneshelper.exe, intunesadmin.dll, etc - i cant open itunes on the next drive - just the old one however it looks like when i view the properties it is showing that theh target is the new drive - also the itunes icon looks funny - it doesnt look like the normal icon - it is a square box.

when i right click and go to properties this is what comes up - which is the external hard drive

Just reinstall iTunes.
Delete all the files you copied to the external.
To move your iTunes library...
- Quit iTunes.
- Copy the entire /My Music.iTunes/ folder from your internal to the external.
- Hold Shift, launch iTunes.
- Select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder you copied to the external
