When I attempt to sync my ipod, it will only fill up what seems to be half of the memory it has available.

How is your iPod configured to sync with your iTunes library?  What options do you have configured from under the iPod's Summary and Music tabs?

    thanks for responding.

I have tried as many ways as possible, manual and playlists only, and fill empty space with music.....

but maybe I'm not understanding your question.  went to the genius bar yesterday and they restored it to original condition.........which I had already done.........and they said it was now fine.  but off course, when I got home, it was the same.  I'm going back tomorrow and bringing my laptop with me which was suggested.

Went back to the genius bar today....and it turned out the problem was with my Itunes files.  They were "disorganized" and the individual music files seemed to almost be missing.  The first guy had me thinking I was going to have to reload or lose all my music.  Thank god I persisted, and they got someone else who knew more about Windows/PCs.  He figured out.........and reorganized the files with some ITunes application that automatically restored all my music.  All in all, I was quite please with the service.  I made an appointment so no waiting around, it took about an hour but there was no charge to me, and everyone there was really nice and pleasant to deal with........and now everything is working out fine.

    Thank you Apple!
