Which original Install Discs will work on my PM G5 (June 2004)?

Which original Install Discs will work on my PM G5 (June 2004)?

I recently bought a used PM G5 Dual 2.0 GHz. It came without a hard drive, and I have bought a new one, and installed it. I am shopping for used Power Mac G5 Software Install and Restore Discs. I know that these original grey color discs were limited to only run on certain Macs. There were five different series of the PM G5, and various individual model variations. I have confirmed, via the serial number and Apple's "Check your service and support coverage" link, that mine is a Power Mac G5 (June 2004). Will any of the discs, labeled as for Power Mac G5, work on my PM G5, or do I have to try and find the exact original discs for my particular series and variation? For instance, MacTracker says that my series/variation came originally with OS 10.3.4 to 10.3.7, and with Apple Hardware Test (AHT) versions 2.2.5, 2.5, or 2.5.2. Would Install discs for a later PM G5, with OS 10.4.2, and AHT 2.5.2, run on my PM G5, to do an OS install, and to check the hardware with AHT? Thanks for your help!

Leopard requirements/10.5.x...

* Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor

minimum system requirements

* 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)

* DVD drive for installation

* 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)

Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.

Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...

Thanks for all the information, BDAqua! After further research, I have clarified that my PM G5 is the second one you mention, X 10.3.4 (7L18). And so it looks like the 2Z691-5094-A 1000949 would have been the original install disk set, which is currently out of stock on We Love Macs. I would prefer to run X 10.4, which I could install from a black 10.4 retail install disk, but then I would not have Apple Hardware Test. I have found a set of grey install disks elsewhere, which are 2Z691-5025-A, and I would really like to buy those, for both 10.4 and Apple Hardware Test, IF they would install on my PM G5. I searched for that number on We Love Macs, but nothing came up, and so I am still looking for any information that would confirm whether the 2Z691-5025-A would work.

Thanks again, BDAqua! After further searching, I have now found a two disc set, Mac OS version 10.3.7 / 2Z691-5269-A and 2Z691-5270-A. Again, I searched for those numbers on We Love Macs, but nothing came up. I would think these discs would work for my PM G5, although they appear to originally have been for a slightly later version. Do you know anything about the suitability of these discs?
