That user guide doesn't mention Apple ID at all, as far as I can tell. At least not in the Settings section. I can't find anything in Settings (on the phone) that has anything to do with the Apple ID.
I too would like to change my Apple ID on my iphone. I chaged my Apple ID to a new email address, but can't edit the ID on the phone - when I try to buy an app I get prompted for my Apple ID password, and the old Apple ID is in grey and uneditable.
I don't remember how I set up the Apple ID on the phone in the first place, but obviously I put it in at some point. My guess is that the first time I purchased an app, it prompted me for both my Apple ID and password; but now it thinks it's convenient not to prompt me for the ID anymore, just the password. But there must be a way to update your Apple ID on the iphone.
Anybody know how to do this?
yeah go to setting>store
If you are signed in then you want to sign out and sign back in and it will ask you if you want to creat a new apple id

For anyone else with this question, the details are as follows: go to Settings -> Store and sign out. Then touch Create New Apple ID. This is a bit confusing, since I didn't want to create a new one, only change the one my phone was using to an existing account. But create one anyway, and put in the existing account info. Then it will say something like "this account already exists" and give you the option to use it on the phone. The next time you buy something it will make you put your password in about 4 more times with a bunch of "are you sure?" type messages, but then it should finally accept it.
Now I have Al Pacino as my ringtone. Brilliant!
I have followed your instructions and it shows me my new, updated ID, but everytime I try to update my apps, my old ID shows up... anay other suggestions. The old ID prevents me from updating all my apps...

You don't have to create a new apple id to change your current one, you would just need to go to appleid.apple.com and click on manage your apple id, from there you can change your apple id username to another one and then sign in on your iphone which won't give you that update error with your old apple id since it is still the same account just a different user name.
I need to do that on my iphone? my iphone shows me the new address but ever time i'm downloading, the old address pops up (it's incorrect -- even has a typo) and it won't let me change THAT addres...
It's really odd because when I go to the store, the new ID appears; Yet, when I try to update my apps, the old ID pops up and asks me for my password...

I have the same problem and can't update any app. I am using the iPhone of my wife who has a new phone and when updating the apps her apple ID password pops up as default. Note that I have of course set my apple password in all the seetings. Please help.

1. Change Apple ID for iTunes & App Stores:
Open "Settings > iTunes & App Stores" > sign out. Now you are able to sign in with a other Apple ID.
2. Change iCloud account:
Open "Settings > iCloud" and then puch the button "Delete Account". After that you can log in with a other iCloud account.
3. If you want to change the email address of your account, because you have a new email address, you can change your Apple ID from your old address to your new address. For more information, follow the steps in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs cannot be renamed.
Note: Apps downloaded under a differnt Apple ID have to be dealeted and re-downloaded if you are having an issue updating them.
