trying to transfer clips from Event Library to iPad

I'm working with a large number of video clips in my Event Library in my desktop iMac. However, I would love to be able to transfer these video clips to my iPad and thus work with iMovie on my iPad. I've tried transferring by iTunes, but I can't get it to transfer over.

Also, the original video clips were taken on my iPhone4S, so if there's a quick/easy way to transfer those video clips from my iPhone 4S to my iPad2, that would be great (then I could use them in iMovie on my iPad).
