Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

my Mac, (version 10.6.8,) is asking me for Java 1.5 before i can play Minecraft. What is Java 1.5, and can I download it?

My daughter has signed up for Minecraft, but the game won't play because we need Java 1.5. Can anyone tell me what Java 1.5 is? I tried to download it, but I could not find the exact Java version.

Thanks,

Frans

Open Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal) and type

java -version

It will tell you what version of Java you have. If you don't have Java installed on your system, it will give you the option to download.

If it says you have 1.5 or later, then Java is probably disabled. To enable it, go to

Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences

and double-click the program. You should see some checkboxes to enable it in the General tab.
