Error of type eDSAuthFailed (-14090)

I have a mobile user with a home folder named "99", and when I try to change the password from Open Directory to Crypt and back (as per another user's suggestion for dealing with "99" folders) I get the following error:

Error of type eDSAuthFailed (-14090) on line 1950 of /SourceCache/ServerManagerUserGeneral/ServerManagerUserGeneral-193.2.5/UserAdva ncedPluginView.mm

Any advice?

Well, I think your OD structure may be hosed. You'll find that there would be other records that you won't be able to edit, either. Typically this happens when the records were added or modified as root, then you go back and edit them and modify them as another user (even an admin) that doesn't have those rights. It's a little odd, I know.

I've seen this problem several times and the only fix is to export users/groups and rebuild your OD structure from scratch. From then on, only modify your OD structure as diradmin.

This thread might help....

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=663952

I followed the part about removing the "overflow" files toward the bottom of the thread and it mostly helped. I can now add and delete users with out the errors. However, I am still not able to add new windows machines to the domain. When I check the logs, I am still seeing similar "-14090" errors.

Does anyone have any thoughts to fix the SMB database, or am I going to have to demote the SMB service to stand-alone server and back to a PDC?? And will this work to flush that DB and let me re-add each machine back to the domain??

Thanks!!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this???!! I have demoted the Windows server to Stand Alone and back to PDC, with the same errors. In fact, the other machines are still able to log in, so apparently this will not clear the machine database, it will just use what is there.....
