Q: Core Audio Input Channel Select FA-66

I recently bought a used Edirol (Roland) FA-66 (0739) firewire audio interface. It uses Core Audio (CA) so there is no supplied software. The FA-66 has six input channels My problem is that CA will not let me select the input channels that I want to record. The "stereo" selection is channels 1 plus 2. But my turntable is connected to channels 3 plus 4. In Audacity I can select stereo or any single channel, but not 3 plus 4.

In Audio Midi Setup (3.0.3), the only format option is 6-channel 24-bit. I cannot mute or control the volume on individual channels.

The computer is a 2007-vintage iMac, OS X 10.6.8, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB SDRAM, 143 GB available on the HD.

This may be too little, much too late, but some packages will let you select the number of inputs even if the Core Audio channel selection is minimal or non-existent.

I've just used Audacity under Mountain Lion to record 4 channels at once on the FA-66 and it worked beautifully.
