Is it possible to "Gift" Mountain Lion?

yes. Purchase an iTunes gift card and give it to the person.

With Lion, you could purchase the thumb drive installer and give that but no one knows yet if that option will still be there for ML. The only other option would be buy a gift card and give that to them to use to purchase and download ML.
Hmmm...I guess I didn't phrase my qustion very well. If I see an iOS App I think someone would like, I can "gift" that particular App to them. That would be a nice option to have in the Mac App store.
However the iTunes gift card is a solution. Thanks

It's interesting you brought this up. Not 10 minutes ago I decided I wanted to gift Mountain Lion to a friend who was just released from the hospital and doesn't have access to an iTunes gift card or his Mom's credit card (he's a teen).
I was surprised you can't gift any app in the Mac App store. Interesting that it's an iOS App Store feature only.
Too bad. Would have made his day.
