Footage plays out of sync in Final Cut Pro

Hey all!

I was given AVI files that I coverted to MOV files. Once I placed them in my timeline I saw that they were all out of sync. I checked the format and it says that the audio format is 32-bit Floating Point. I am guessing this is the problem as the sequence settings only allow me to pic 16 bit or 24 bit. These files are also out of sync when I play them through quicktime player and MPEG streamclip....

The guy I got this footage from (A PC user) had no problems with the footage being out of sync...

Any ideas on how I could fix this????

If you don't know, I don't think I can help. All NTSC (North American) DV video is 720x480. 4:3 video fills the 4:3 screen and displays properly in final cut. 16:9 video in DV can either be anamorphic in which case the pixel dimensions are still 720x480 but the image is squeezed horizontally or it can be letterboxed with black bars on the top and bottom.

Everything will be ok within fcp but when you export from fcp you may or may not get an image that's displayed properly. If you're having a problem with this post back, describe your current workflow, and we'll walk you thru the steps you need to take to make the exported file disply properly.

It looks ok, as good as it is gooing to get I think. The guy who shot it shot it with these settings, he said he shot is SD but hit the widescreen option. The problem that I am facing now is that the original files that he gave me (AVI Files) and the ones that I tried to export to MOV files are all playing out of sync. I have played them all (original and exported) in FCP, QT and MPEG Streamclip, and all is out of sync.

He said when he played these AVI files on his PC they played back fine...

Workflow:

Some of the AVI files he gave me were not accepted by MPEG Streamclip. He then burned the files to a dvd for me which I brough into MPEG Streamclip and exported to DV. This is how I got the exported file:

User uploaded file

I did not change anything...just hit "export to DV"

For the files he gave me as AVI's (which he forgot to burn for me) I opened those in QT Pro and did save as to give me an MOV. When I tried to export it, it gave me the wrong size as there was no option to export 720x480 16:9....
