I had to restore my iphone but it will not activate and it keeps telling me I have no sim card. I have a sim card, one I've always had but nothing I do works.

Was it jailbroken or unlocked before you restored it? If it was, you've bricked it.
If not, then go to your carrier and get a new SIM.
