I'm scanning in old photos for my genealogy work and I have no idea what the time or date are. How do I get around this - "adjust date" wants exact day and time. I just know the year or that the photo was taken between 1900 and 1908, for example. Is there a setting I can change?

I would just average it, in the above case enter Jan 1, 1904. That way you can still search for general dates.

This command is for correcting date and time on images that already have a time written to them by the camera. Your scans don't have that. So need to set the time on the images.
Photo menu -> Batch Change and choose 'Set Date...'
