You need to purchase a retail Mac OS X 10.5 DVD from a source such as Amazon. Your computer can't go beyond 10.5.8.

With a PowerPc G5 Mac the only thing you can upgrade to is Leopard.

Everything beyond Leopard, such as Snow Leopard, Lion and the soon to be release Mountain Lion, requires an Intel processor instead

I want to upgrade my old iMac (it is still my favourite PC) so it can download the newest itunes and other programs (eg Youtube).

I don't know what kind of upgrade is possible for my old mac and i don't know what is the newest upgrade to get.

    Details of my Mac:

    Mac OS X

    10.4.11

Processor 2GHz Intel Core 2 Due

    Memory: 1GB667MHz DR2 SDRAM

Appreciate any advice, thank YOU very much!

You say you are new to this.

Let me tell you that posting at the bottom of a thread that has been dead for three years is not the best way to go.

I suggest you start your own thread and post it in the Intel iMac forum because your iMac does not have a PPC Processor but and Intel processor instead.
