Jul 24, 2012 6:27 AM in response to sheppseaby Tgara,I believe you can add location information through iPhoto '11 on the Mac, but not using iPhoto for iOS. In other words, the iPhone/iPad version of iPhoto will display map data if it is associated with a photo already, but you cannot add that map data to photos in iPhoto for iOS.
If you want to have map data associated with photos on your iPad, you have to add the location information to the photos using the desktop version of iPhoto, then import those photos to your iPad.

Yes. But when the next version of Photos is released with El Capitan this Sept 30th that capability will be restored as can be seen from the following paragraph in this Apple webpage: Apple OS X El Capitan.
Photos has been fine-tuned to make it even easier to manage your library. Now you can add a location to a single image or to an entire Moment. Naming your favorite people in Faces is faster with a streamlined workflow. You can also sort your albums — and the contents inside them — by date, title, and more.
Keep telling Apple what missing features you'd like restored or new features added in Photos via Apple-Photos Feedback.
