I removed my apple application support software...How do I reinstall it??

I was having trouble updating my iTunes and I followed someone's advice to uninstall all apple software including Apple Application Support and now I can't use any iTunes, Quicktime without having this support installed.

How do I get the Apple Application Support back....please help??

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.

Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

http://www.rarlab.com/

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.

Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?

If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

This worked great! I had the same problem. I kept receiving messages that I needed to uninstall and then reinstall itunes because I was missing the Apple Application Support AND Bonjour. (I uninstalled them by mistake). I didn't want to do a whole reinstall because I would lose all my playlists and didn't want to have to recreate them.

The only problem I had with the directions was trying to find the itunes setup folder (after it had been extracted by WinRar). I used the Search function to find "itunessetup" folder and once I opened it up, I was able to individually re-install both Apple Application Support and Boujour.

Thank you for the help!

I have done all of that and have also tried every other fix already stated on this board (especially the .NET 4 fixes) (Thread: Fixed 12-03-12!!!)

The WinRAR seemed to work until I got an error message:

"The Installer has insuffieient privledges to modify this file C;/Program FIiles (x86)/Common Files/Apple/Apple Aplication Support/WebKit.resources/inspector/spinnerInactiveSelected.gif

I am the administrator. I have tried every possible way to give me privledges, but none.

I followed all of your instructions and iTunes is opening for me now. However, when I plug my iPhone 4 into my pc to link it to iTunes I am getting the following error message:

This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes Installer to remove iTunes. Then install the 64-bit version of iTunes.

I installed the requested version using the steps you laid out. What is wrong? I need to remove some third party ringtones from my phone and going through iTunes on my pc is the only way I have seen to do it.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

The section Install missing components has similar advice to that above on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally. It may pay to repair or reinstall Apple Mobile Device Support.

I believe 7-Zip may may do a better job of extracting .msi files from the .exe. However you may be better off following the removal and reinstallation advice in the linked user tip.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

If the issue persists and you have a 64-bit system try the for older video cards version which is a 64-bit installer for mostly 32-bit code, similar to all 64-bit versions of iTunes up to 12.1.
