Macbook Retina Freezing and Kernel Panic

Question

Hi,I&#x27;ve read many reports at Apple forums but no one seems to have a solution for my problem.I own a new MacBook Pro Retina Display 2.6GHZ, with a LED Cinema Display as the first extenal monitor.1) When I add a second external monitor through the MiniDisplayPort to VGA Adapter, MBP keeps throwing Kernel Panics sending reports to Apple. The log is below.2) Every time the screen saver enters and I stay away for approx one hour, it freezes and makes me power off and turn on again. The curious, the mouse keeps working but does not click anywhere, and the keyboard is dead. The screen saver freezes but the last image keeps showing. I am having this issue too, with Mountain Lion.  I also have updated the SMC update fo the sleep/powernap as well, but the Retina Macbook Pro is still freezing after having the Screen Saver running all night.  When I return in the morning, the Screen saver shows the last picture, and I can move the mouse, but it won&#x27;t go back into the desktop.  Any ideas or will this need another patch from Apple?

I was experiencing the same issue. A couple of days ago I did two things and have not had the problem since:I deleted the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.screensaver.plist file.Rebooted and reset the PRAM (holiding down Command + Option + P + R after the Apple startup tone)After this I set up my screensaver again and I have not had the freeze happen since. I have no idea which of these things solved the issue (or indeed if the problem has truely gone) but I was having to reset several times a day and it hasn&#x27;t happened again since. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the answer. I did the PRAM reset and the screensaver reconfig, I&#x27;ll let you know if it fixes the freezing problem.I do hope Apple fixes these problems with the new MBP Retina. It&#x27;s frustrating spending US$ 3,000 in a machine that prevents me working better than I was working with my old machine. This is really disapointing, trully.Thanks a lot for trying to help.

Nevermind ... Just had it freeze again on the screensaver lock screen. Had the spinning beachball forever ... finally just did a hard reboot. Looks like this fix did not work for me. I am turning off the lock screen function for now ...

Never mind have the freezing issue again with the screensaver.  It seems to happen more often when I have diablo 3 running in the background...

I can&#x27;t believe Apple didn&#x27;t work this issue yet. It&#x27;s clear that is a problem with the graphics driver and even after upgrading to Mountain Lion the problem persists. If I connect a monitor on the second Thunderbird port, it does not take two minutes for the problem to appear.

Also having kernel panics when using an external monitor (a Samsung 27" SyncMaster 305T+ monitor connected with a Dual-link DVI) with Retina MBP. I&#x27;m on 10.8.1.
