replacing .itl file means reindexing iTunes match again?

I noticed as of late that a few things I have purchased did not show up in my listing for Music in iTunes. Through some posts here, I decided to rebuild the .itl file to essentially reindex my library. Good news is the missing music showed up. Bad news is my iTunes match essentially started over, reindexing. This took forever the first time and I imagine it will be again. Since the music was "in the cloud", I'm not sure why I would have to go through this again. Any ideas??
