right click search in a new tab
Hi,
I was wondering when highlighting a word and right clicking it, Safari offers to search the term on Google. How can I set that search to open in a new tab?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, that's default for Safari.
Click Safari Extensions from the Safari menu bar. Might be an extension you can install that can do this.
I am experiencing the same problem since updating to Safari 6.0 (7536.25) on 10.7.4.
If I do CMD+Click on "Search with Google", Safari opens a new empty tab but searches in the current tab. That doesn't make sense to me!
OK, problem solved. I had the Omnibar Extension installed. After uninstalling everything works as it should!
Thought I'd chime in, I too thought there was no solution to this issue, but it's is infact incredibly simple:
In the right click menu, DON'T left click on the "Search with Google" option, MIDDLE click on it (or the trackpad equivalent), the same way you do to force a link to open in a new tab.
I am also looking for it to open in a new tab the the OP wants it to.
I don't want to hold anything down as I want to keep as effiecient as possible.
Other then downloading anything or holding the command key there is no other way? Like a simple search setting?
It is as simple as right clicking the word and choosing the second to last option wich says "Search with Google".
That opens the results in a new tab
*second to last option which ALSO says "Search with Google"
right click search in a new tab
