I've identified the location of many photos but the locations do not show up on the in "Places." All I get is list of locations and number of photos and the photos do appear if I click the location. But the map feature does not work.
Your help and insight will be greatly appreciated.

In the iPhoto preferences be sure look up places is set to automatically

I did this but still have the same results. Thanks for replying to my questiion.

If you have the preferences setup as Larry setup and still don't get the map in the Manage my Places window do the following;
1 - open Safari's Privacy preference pane click on the Details button.
2 - in the next window search for "Google".
3 - delete all of the Google cookines found.
4 - launch iPhoto and try the maps again.
