My Ipod Touch has Software Version 4.2.1 and says that there is no update available. Yet I see that IOS 5 is out.. Why is it that my Ipod says no update is available or that my Ipod is up to date?

Thats stupid, I would like to get one of the Nike+ FuelBands which only operates with IOS 5.0, which evidently the 2nd Gen Ipod is unable to get.. I feel that an Ipod should be able to get the most up to date IOS regardless of what Generation it is. My Ipod works perfectly so Im not going to go out and spend stupid money on a new Ipod Touch just to be able to get IOS 5 when a perfectly operational 2nd Gen should be able to get it.

SteveJobsFan, I didnt say that the obvious software limitation was stupid, I was saying the amount of money for a new ipod is stupid.. I want the up-to-date abilities of the Ipod, being able to run newer programs and such, but im not going to spend the rediculous amount of $$$ to buy a new Ipod when I have a perfectly operational one already.

Any software should be downloadable. The internet makes this possible; unless some entity's are working hard at becoming absolete. To not be able to even go to the apple store and change the hardware or what not and giving customers flexibility is ludacris. operation system cds are offered by some organizations so its not impossible for a company that create a new product fairly recently to have ALL of its product line conveniently upgradable to newer versions, capping this is foolish I have updated numerous times and now there's a ceilling preventing a perfectly functioning ipod touch from enjoying the benefits of adding NEW APPS FROM DEDICATED VENDORS AND APP DEVELOPERS. Yeah I hope that future customers with the latest versions won't face this difficulty in the future, comsumers are not cattle, and some will no't aquire more stuffits that are not necessary.
