How to resize photo to an exact pixel size?

I am working on my wife's photography business website using a Pro Photo Blog design that requires photos to be resized to an exact pixel size for certain areas of the site. I need the photos to be resized to 600 x 300 pixels. I would assume that I would need to crop an area of the photo for that size considering if you resize one these giant images down to 600 x 300 it would distort the image somewhat. Can someone help me with this issue? I am using Aperture.

Aperture 3, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Here is a sample screenshot:

  1. Select the image you want to export in the Browser.
  2. Then press the "crop tool" icon (or simply the "C" key").
  3. In the "Crop HUD set the "Aspect ratio" to custom and the width to 2 and the height to 1. This will give you crop rectangle with a ratio od width and height of 2 to 1.
  4. Adjust the corners of the rectangle to the section of your image that you want to export.

Then press "Apply"

Léonie
