Mountain Lion Redemption code already used?

Well, finally got through to enter my info for Mountain Lion for my new 2012 MBAir. Within 3 minutes, got my emails for my redemption code. However, when I enter the redemption code - IT'S ALREADY USED! Someone has already cracked the codes, or guessed the redemption codes I presume.

I have to say Apple - what a joke. You already know the serial number on my system, which can be used to look up the purchase date - or determine it's a model that was ONLY available after the free upgrade date - and could have done that to allow me to get it without all this BS.

Thanks bunches - now how many weeks will it take to convince someone I really didn't download it? How in the heck does this get straightened out?

Just got this reply:

My name is xxxx with iTunes Store Support and I'll be assisting you with your request. I understand that your "OS X Up-to-Date" redemption code has been recognized as "already redeemed". I know how unnerving it feels when our content codes aren't able to be used.

Due to a known issue, the content codes associated with the "OS X Up-to-Date" program haven't been valid for use in the Mac App Store.

No worries, yyy. I've submitted a request on your behalf for a replacement content code, and you should be receiving that shortly via email. Please bear in mind that it isn't necessary to submit an additional claim for the "OS X Up-to-Date" program.

They "haven't been valid for use in Mac App Store", but they're "sending another"......

So I'm far from alone. This is the kind of b.s. that I would expect of Microsoft and precisely why I purchased a Mac...to get away from b.s. problems. Well, at least there's some feeling of satisfaction in that the situation has been covered by some of the news sites. Apple really should be embarrassed, especially after they JUST had a problem with the app downloads a couple weeks ago.

Off to add my name to the uptodate support address.

Wow! The timeline for fixing this is slipping by the minute. I've read a bunch of posts that indicated they might have this fixed in hours, then a day or two, now you're being told three days!!

I'd hate to be a part of the Apple support staff today. I find it amazing that they screwed up on this scale. It's not as though the iTunes online redemption model is new.

Right now, someone at Apple is updating a resume.
