I am fairly knowledgeable with computer but I just have a question...If i were to buy a dual core 13 inch macbook pro, would I be able to upgrade the memory to a quad core? If not, is it a size issue or a software issue? Thanks

its a hardware issue. you can't upgrade the cpu.

There are no quad core memory in a macbook, they are dual channel.
If you're thinking processor wise, your dual core processor is built in to your logic board. So you can not go from a dual core to a quad core.
Okay thanks guys, I love my macbook thats 4.5 years old and was looking at getting a new one...I do a lot of spreadsheets and what not for chemistry grad school so I'm trying to figure out my options.
