Safari 6 download

It hasn't been posted yet (the developer version ckeswani references is a month-old preview). They've put the KB up and updated the Safari page, but the Lion version is neither in Software Update nor in Support Downloads.

I guess we have to be patient for a few more hours!

I can actually see this in Software Updates right now, but I am looking to download this. Anyone have any idea when the download becomes available so I can download and distribute to my macs?

I am looking to deploy Safari 6 via ARD to a number of systems BUT I do not want to use the Update Software Unix commands or via Software Update on the individual systems. My desired method, which worked just fine with earlier versions, was to download the Safari installer and then push the package out to the systems to actully install it on those system.

As of a few minutes ago this is not an available option because, as is stated above, Apple has not put an actual Safari Installer available as a standalone package anywhere on their web site.

As an alternative, has anyone tried installing Safari 6 on a system and then copying Safari 6 from the Applications folder and pasting it via ARD into a different system? If so, did it work ok?

I will also be sending out an e-mail to our Higher Ed System Engineer to see if he has any other ideas. If I hear anything useful I will pass it on here.

The easy answer...

1) Open Terminal.app

2) sudo softwareupdate -d Safari6Lion-6

3) Look in /Library/Updates and take the PKG

The more complicated... use WireShark to find the URL that command line Software Update is using. 🙂

Joe that'll definitely not work. Safari 6 also needs to update WebKit and Javascript frameworks as well as sync services libraries...

Josh, your URL had a space in it, that was tripping me up, here it is without the space:

This should download the package without needing to run the command line to get it.

Then you can use that to deploy via ARD, of course maybe waiting a week for any surprise bugs might be a good idea before deploying 😉

Thank you both. I got the package for installing Safari 6 and now I know what I will be doing for next week, unless too many or to severe bugs pop out of Safari 6.

Thank you so much! I was stuck on 7536.19 and tried many times the software update app and safari download section.

I was about to use jdownloader and hopefully get all tags but nah I got lazy.

I LOVE YOU! I've been searching all over for this exact thing and this was the first place that someone didn't just say to install Lion Recovery to REINSTALL SAFARI! I couldn't believe that there was no way to just install Safari. This was a huge thorn in my side and I am very grateful for this thread.
