Q: Power Nap on 2011 MacBook Air

Afternoon All.

I'm not seeing any mention of Power Nap on the energy saver dialogue on my 13" MacBook Air i7, this does meet the Power Nap specs doesn't it?

Any steps that I can do to troubleshoot?

Cheers David

You must install a firmware update to activate that

    Hi there,

New here. I am having the same problem with david_on_a_bike.

    I have a mid 11 MBA (1.8 GHz Intel Core i7)

    Model Identifier:          MacBookAir4,2

    Boot ROM Version:          MBA41.0077.B0F

and do not see Power Nap in my Energy Preferences.

As for firmware update, when I download EFI 2.4 and try to install, it gives me an alert that this update is not intended for my mac and quits. I get this message for anything I download from the "downloads" section of apple support.

I would appreciate any help you can give me very much!

    Thanks in advance.

please stop mentioning "you must install firmware to activate that".  there is currently NO firmware update, and worse in the app store there is no mentioning of a firmware needed actually in the appstore mountian lion is branded as "Power nap works with macbook air (mid 2011 or newer) and macbook Pro with retina. no mentioning whatsoever of a firmware upgrade. the website somewhere else does mention "might need a firmware" but this is all pretty confusing and obscure. and i would much appreciate apple either mentions powernap is a feature that isnt there yet or activate it now. Dont market a feature that isnt working please, and stop saying upgrade your firmware when there is NO firmware upgrade there.

Apple said that you need a firmware update (you can read it in the 10.8 page)

mende1 please refrain form stating such. as i mentioned clearly in my previous post :

apple mentions on their website "Might need a firmware upgrade" and forgets totally to mention it in the appstore where it merely mentions : powernap WORKS on macbook airs 2011 and above and MBR's and does NOT mention anything else. THAT in my optinion is obscure and should have been handled much clearer. Right now we are all guessing... and right now the feature isnt working for most of us which is totally contradictory to what is promised in the APP store which is my binding legal promise when i click on the buy button not somewhere else on a website, else just simply tell me its not functional yet at least we dont have to keep wondering.

Anybody looking for the links, this article has the links for the MBA mid 11 and mid 12. Says the one for the Retina is "coming soon".
