Battery life dropped considerably on Mountain Lion.

I upgraded to mountail Lion and now my battery life is about half of what it was before upgrading. Shouldn't the update improve battery life? Also, what can I do about this?

I can confirm that the battery climate is the same here in central France.

Battery status of my 2010 15" MacBook Pro i5 says "Service Battery" and battery life starts from 3 to 4 hours. It used to be 7-8 hours. It drains quicker than before.
I've done the SMC reset procedure described earlier, and reset the Energy Saver settings to default.

I should add a little detail on my experience with this issue. I use my MBP Early 2011 mainly for personal use.

Pre ML upgrade, I would have the machine fully changed, then use for an hour or so as I retire of a night, checking emails and browsing youtube using safari. I alos run XBMC a bit.

I would simply shut the lid and find that there would be very little change in battery percentage between when I closed and opened the lid.

As a rough example, I may have 66% remaining when turning on either the next morning or next evening (bit vague)

Now on ML, I am using the MBP in the same fashion, but opening it up in the morning to see only 20-15% remaining?

I upgraded a couple of days ago, and I am also experiencing a major drop in battery life on my mid 2010 mbpro (6,2). However, I found out that by using Safari instead of Chrome, the battery life goes back to what I was used to with Lion. It looks that Chrome forces the use of discrete graphics, but strangely, even if I force switch to integrated in gfxcardstatus, the battery life remains atrocious.

That the remaining battery time has been removed from the status bar is also kind of stupid.

I have a MacBook white mid 2009 and upgraded from Snow Leopard. So far I have not tested the battery but I have noticed that the machine gets hotter. Especially in the area where the battery is located. Actually it gets so hot that I wonder if this does not damage something. As a result I can constantly hear the fan.

The interesting thing is that I only run Chrome(flash disabled), Mail and Calendar, so basically I do web browsing. According to the Activity Monitor the CPU is around 97% idle.

I hope we see a fix soon.
