Sep 2, 2012 6:09 PM in response to jpengland96by ApocalyArts,Well, now I am back to Lion but the Battery says 4 hours left...thats not right. Could it be because I imported Apps and Configurations during the installation with my Time Machine Backup? Do I have to start completely from scratch?

Sep 2, 2012 6:34 PM in response to putnikby Neil Richmond2,Yes, Putnik. I mean't I did a clean install of Lion(10.7) and then restored my Lion (10.7.4) that was behaving pretty well, before I ugraded to ML. As I said, my system performance was very disappointing at this point. It was sluggish and very buggy, with apps that used to be stable, crashing all the time including Safari.
I just did a clean install of SN and restored my last SL before upgrading to Lion. What I am thinking is to upgrade to Lion when I am secure that my SL installation is stable and then restoring my last 10.7.4 and hope that I will be back to where I was before I upgraded to ML. Any opinions on how this might work? Thanks.

Sep 2, 2012 6:54 PM in response to Neil Richmond2by EddieLee24,My battery life was cut in half when I upgraded to ML. I luckily had a clone of Lion and wiped my hard drive and cloned Lion back on my MBR. Its running cool again and I probably got around 6-7 hours of use this morning which is way more than the 3-4 than I was with ML. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure my new MBR got 7-8 hours before I upgrade to ML. I cannot speak as highly of Apple anymore after this fiasco.

Sep 2, 2012 7:28 PM in response to jpengland96by stcraw4d,Just putting my name on the list for this issue. Got the new 15" MBP with Retina on Monday and noticed issues immediately. I was sitting in a meeting at work, and started the meeting at 100%. The only apps I had open were Outlook and Evernote, and neither were really actively being "used." I had screen brightness set to two blocks (so pretty dim), and it dropped from 100% to 15% in about 90 minutes. Absolutely pathetic.
Because it's brand new, it shipped with ML, so I don't really have any disks or whatever to go backwards to Lion or previous. Am I screwed here?
It's obviously under warranty, but are they even capable of fixing anything? Do I just need to plan on running it off AC power for the forseeable future?

Sep 2, 2012 7:58 PM in response to stcraw4dby Androgen,Since you just bought it, you can take it back to where you bought it from and return it and get a new one. Since ur under the 30-day return guarantee, you can do an exchange.

Sep 2, 2012 8:15 PM in response to Androgenby stcraw4d,If I bought it online, is that only honored by shipping it back? Do I need to go into a store first and start the process there? Having them run diagnostics and what not?

Sep 2, 2012 8:38 PM in response to jpengland96by AV.kammari,Count me in with the battery problem. MBP 2,8GHz/8GB/mid 2010. Battery life was cut in half (even more) after upgrading to ML. I went directly to 10.8.1, clean install. Battery health is still same as it was in Lion. ML is just eating my battery even in sleep mode.

Sep 2, 2012 8:45 PM in response to AV.kammariby Androgen,I just did a reinstall of ML on my MBP late 2011 just a few hours ago and battery is actually behaving now. Shows 7:50 minutes on a full charge. I'll post some battery health stats later.

Sep 2, 2012 8:48 PM in response to Androgenby stcraw4d,How would you do a reinstall without a disk?
-
Sep 2, 2012 9:17 PM in response to stcraw4dby Androgen,Ouch. That's going to hard for you to exchange then. You will have to ship it in to them or take it to your nearest Apple Store and have them take a look at it.

Sep 2, 2012 9:20 PM in response to stcraw4dby Androgen,You have an inner built feature called 'Recovery', which yo ucan invoke when you restart your laptop. When you shut down and start up your laptop, hold down 'Command' and 'R' at the same time and press them a few times. Do this as soon as you hear the 'Ding' sound. That will take you into Recovery. That's where you will be able to erase your disk and reinstall the software. ML will be downloaded from Apple's servers again when you are installing. REMEMBER to back up all your data before doing this.
