Apr 30, 2013 5:44 PM in response to Csound1by kakuteijitsu,I made the test, logged with the Guest account, results in battery life were the same as with my regular user, and I can't stress this enough I DON'T HAVE ANY APPS AT ALL my machine is clean as **** and I didn't change the apps I had from snow leopard ( my original OS) so my frame of reference is very clear.
Does this confirm the problem is on the OS Itself? Any other suggestion, so far I know I can log in safe mode and get my original 4-6 hours batt. Life but that's just sad.
Thanks to all in advance.

Apr 30, 2013 5:59 PM in response to kakuteijitsuby Thinman,I have had the problem with battery life since I updated when the new software was introduced. Had Apple contact me gave them the information they wanted. Nothing has happened since. Have tried the various solutions posted here. Nada has worked.
Apple must have seen these and similar posts on this and other forum. Still nothing has been done or acknowledged their may be a problem.
I have give up at this stage.

Apr 30, 2013 6:10 PM in response to jpengland96by kakuteijitsu,Does anybody else get the original battery life when booting on safe mod??
If we can find a pattern maybe we can find a solution, or solid ground to inquiry APPLE as a group of people with the same problem.

Apr 30, 2013 6:19 PM in response to kakuteijitsuby Firefoxsilver9,Yes i do get 5-6 hours battery life while in safe mode compared to normal mode on my Early 2011 13" MBP. Normal mode i only get 2-3 hours. The CPU temp is 20 degrees cooler also.

Apr 30, 2013 6:44 PM in response to jpengland96by Firefoxsilver9,scratch that. in Safe Mode my CPU temp is 120 F but normal mode its getting to be 160-170 F as the norm. I also noticed that in safe mode due to the graphics accerlation being turned off (i think) the CPU usage would get around 70-100% usage but the CPU temp and the fans stayed stable at 2000rpm where as now cpu is averaging 15% but the temp is high and the fan is going on and off on occasion.

May 1, 2013 6:51 AM in response to Firefoxsilver9by VoilaMagic,On my mid 2011 mbp 15", I am getting 4-5 hours battery if surfing the web, less if creating documents, etcetera. My late 2011 17" (mbp) is getting about 5 hours with document usage (airport off), Apple wiped and clean-installed Mountain Lion 8.3 on both.

It confirms that something is running in your account that is consuming excess power as compared to when in Safe Mode. Remove all startup items from your user account and test again. (The next stage will be to put the startup items back, one by one until the power hog is located)

May 1, 2013 9:20 AM in response to Csound1by kakuteijitsu,Do you mean
1)Backing up the whole LIBRARY folder
2) start removing one folder at a time, rebooting and logging on normally and check battery usage
3) Repeat until find which folder causes the problem?
is that so? or is it there another way to Remove all startup items from the user account?. (theres not much i Find on the internet)
thanks in advance.

May 1, 2013 5:41 PM in response to Csound1by kakuteijitsu,Ok, so i Made the test, the only item i had on that list was "Itunes Helper", i checked the box, and restarted everything.
the battery life is just the same.
i think we reached again a Dead end, the Safe mode experiment proved the Problem is not on a Deep OS layer, but it is there, somewhere, and seems like not easy to be found.
starting to get tired of this, if I could I would just Go back to Snow Leopard, my only fear is to loose my Windows on the bootcam and all the software I use to work and whose installers i dont have at hand and Get the same problem anyway.
this *****.

May 1, 2013 5:57 PM in response to kakuteijitsuby Csound1,Windows is the problem, not OSX. You'll have to use whatever MS supply to backup Windows, realistically you are unlikely to be able to restore it easily (unless Winclone works).
Once you have a tested Windows backup you can move on but not yet.
Windows power management (on a Mac) is awful, what is your battery life like if you don't use Windows for a day or 2
