Q: Battery life dropped considerably on Mountain Lion.

I upgraded to mountail Lion and now my battery life is about half of what it was before upgrading. Shouldn't the update improve battery life? Also, what can I do about this?

    Since I updated to Mountain Lion my battery's life is dropping down so quickly. About 30 minutes my Macbook Pro was 100% battery and now, 30 minutes passed, its 86%.

    I saw many foruns about this problem since Mountain Lion was available to upgrade ....

    Anyone knows if it has some fix or what can I do to better me Mac's battery life ?

    Tks (I'm from Brazil - sorry if have some wrongs over)

    Just leave it to settle down and stop starring at it every few minutes. Battery life is similar but the battery indicator jumps around a lot- all in all it's the same battery life give or take a few minutes.

    Same problem here - MacBook Air.  I'm sure Apple will get it fixed soon.  I'm really not inclined to do a clean install.  That's like having a PC.

    One day is a very short sample to assess battery performance, do what you wish but I would wait a few days. And the estimated time is just that,an estimate.

    I have noticed the biggest issue for my battery reduction occurs in Sleep mode.  Used to be able to go for days with very little reduction in battery.  Now it is like the computer is running all day and the battery goes from 80+% to less than 15%.  This has got to be fixed soon!

    I just spent an hour recording values of battery and watched it drop from 94% to 60% capacity in 1 hour.  It lost a % every two minutes and it does not seem to want to charge past 96% after 1 day and 1 battery cycle.

    Definitely a glitch.

    Not charging beyond 96% is normal (it will but not all the time to preserve the battery) 1% a minute is not normal, open activity monitor, sort by CPU and look for processes using a lot of cycles.

    Remove the virus scanner and check again.

    Csound1 - this is a new battery after Mountain Lion killed my other one.  My sample is definitely more than one day ... I just thought I would have a better run with a new battery, starting fresh versus a battery that may have been defective and was showing "SERVICE BATTERY".

    I am hoping this battery does not go the way of the other one.  I ama using an early 2011 MBP.

    Yup, My 7 day old 13 inch MacBook Pro 2.9 GHz and i7, 750 GB HD was at 100% and now down to 90% in under 10 minutes with the screen brightness at under halfway and backlight keys and bluetooth off. This is ridiculous, I paid for seven hours of charge time. I don't understnd why Apple is being quiet about this obvious problem. I would have no problem if they just said they know there's a problem and their working on a solution. :{

    I just downgraded to Lion again. My battery is still charging and has not reached the 100% level. I will post further status. Anyone who knows how to claim a refund from apple is more than welcome to share the info.
