Aug 14, 2012 4:18 AM in response to jpengland96by John S. Thomson,Just got to work & fired up my MBA, it was at 48% when i closed the lid last night, completely empty this morning, completely empty, wouldnt start up without power cord.
Not the first time this has happened.
My worry is that 10.8.1 wont fix this.
Anyone else agree?

Aug 14, 2012 4:34 AM in response to jpengland96by jt519,Wow. Another data point. I charged up my Macbook Pro last night, it was at 100%. I closed the lid, then went to bed. Got up this morning, not even 7 hours later, and it was down to 93%.
And just in the time it took me to open Safari, find this thread and start typing, it's already down to 89%! Right now, looking at the results of the 'top' command in a Terminal window, I see the 'mds' process taking from 19 to 60% cpu, along with a couple of 'mdworker' processes. Though I don't recall seeing those running last time I looked.
And already dropped another percent, down to 88... Yeah, there's a problem all right!

Aug 14, 2012 4:41 AM in response to jpvsjpby bewmIES,I have another data point to contribute as well. I'm pleased with my rMBP's performance, which I've chronciled on this board.
I also have a late 2009 unibody MacBook Pro, which has a brand new battery and a fresh install of Mountain Lion. Charged it to 100% last night and when I woke this morning it was already down to 85%, whereas my rMBP stayed at 99-100% over the night.
Looks like there are several problems at play, which shouldn't surprise anybody. Let's hope Apple sorts this in 10.8.1...

Aug 14, 2012 7:35 AM in response to John S. Thomsonby dean_55,After upgrading my mid 2011 MBA to Mountain Lion I now lose 20% of the battery charge overnight when the computer is sleeping. Is there any way to revert back to Lion until Apple gets this figured out?

Aug 14, 2012 8:09 AM in response to bewmIESby verdi1987,My rMBP battery also appears to have returned to normal capacity after deleting com.apple.desktop.plist and disabling and re-enabling Notification Center. My desktop background is now the default. I'm going to customize it and see if that impacts the battery.
With browsing (Safari) and using Mail, Messages, and Notes, my battery decreased 8% over 40 minutes. That equates to about 8.3 hours, and iStat Pro is reporting 2 hours and 40 minutes remaining on a 32% charge.
My rMBP was "easy upgraded" from 10.7 to 10.8 via the Mac App Store and executing the upgrade from within 10.7.
Prior to making these changes, I was seeing a 30% battery depletion after an hour.

Aug 14, 2012 8:45 AM in response to jpengland96by gkygrl,Trust me when I say that Apple is working round the clock on this issue. The Tech I have been working with from Apple has been working on this non-stop (I worked with him last on Sunday). They have been grabbing diagnositic information for their engineers from a sample of different machines. They have their eyes on this thread and can see things growing -- we are a small representative sample of the entire Mac community.
The tech couldn't tell me anything because things in the world of Apple are very secretive Don't we know that! But they are evaluating data and trying to see where the holes are so that they can fix it.
Hang in there ... if your battery goes into "Service Mode" and it's under Warranty, make sure to get it to an Apple store for a switch.
I've re-enabled my notification Center and am running Lion the way it was meant to be run outside of the box. It's up to Apple to come up with the fix.
Hang in there folks and keep posting ... Apple is watching

Aug 14, 2012 9:06 AM in response to gkygrlby rvinny,+1 - Mid 2009 MBP, installed a 128GB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD over a year ago, battery has been 6+ hours the whole time under 10.7. Upgraded to 10.8 and battery is getting 3.5 - 4 hrs at best. Still not bad but gives me anxiety. Considering downgrading to 10.7.4 until this gets fixed.

Aug 14, 2012 9:28 AM in response to Courcoulby bartlettpsj,Out of interest, is this ML bug actually causing damage to our batteries or just shortening the run-time of the battery per charge, until the bug is fixed?
