Ok sorry if some one posted this but I got tired of reading the things that didn't work or being told to install firefox which to me was not a fix. this is what I did.
1 Ran Abode's uninstall for mac here ....http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
2. Re-installed from the apple support site and it worded fine for me...
Could you at least try the solution before coming on and complaining?
It's worked for thousands of other people, and you're not doing it right if it doesn't work. Safari blocks out of date addons, it's what its done since Apple discovered a security flaw in out of date flash plugins.
If you have a problem with it, then by all means, continue using firefox, but no one cares.
Had the same difficulties and tried all of the recommendation with frustrating results. Flash Player worked with Firefox but not with Safari. Then I saw a small post from someone who sugested that the plugins might not be enabled in Safari preferences. I checked and lo and behold it wasn't on mine. Having checked it, Flash Player now works fine. I don't know how it became unchecked but I'll certainly look there first if I ever get the problem again. could have saved hours!
