My Powerbook G4, Keyboard's light no longer on even in dark side.

Hi all~
As the topic,
my notebook pb G4's keyboard light no longer turn on even in dark side.
I have already searched for this topic and seems connot find any answer.

I found that many solutions say that check the "System Preferences"-->"Keyboard & mouse". Then we would find a setting of "Backlight"

But I found that that setting was disappear~!!

Is it a problem of Hardware? or who is facing the same problem with me?

What happens if you press F10 (or Fn+F10 if so set up)?

It's probably a hardware problem, possibly a loose cable connector. When hardware options disappear from System Preferences, it often suggests that the software is doing its job. It doesn't see the hardware, so the options for that piece of hardware disappear. We see this from time to time with keyboard backlighting on PBs.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to have it checked by an AASP.

Thanks for replies,
Today, the light came out, but after few minutes, it disappeared again.
This time the Preferences Setting still here. ( I think there should be some hardware problem there) I'm quite confused of this...

Yesterday I press F10, there was nothing.
If (fn + F10) , the Expose would come out.

I had the same problem but found that unchecking the "Illuminate keyboard in low light conditions" and then re-enabling it solved the problem when I also set the slider below it to "5 mins." I had had it set on "Never."

So far, so good.

I believe the OP is saying that the checkbox and the slider no longer appear in his System Preferences. He has no settings to change.

Yup, that's the problem.

To be included, I have these problem,

1) The light of keyboard no longer turn on and the "Setting of keyboard's backlight" disapper in System Preferences at the same time. Key F10 become useless.

2) The "Setting of keyboard's backlight" still here, and effective Key F10, but there is no response of the light.
