Q: Notes wont sync between Iphone and Mac on Mountain Lion

I am not sure how to get my notes to sync between my iphone and mac on Mountain Lion.  Reminds works fine but when i went to look at notes I noticed that on my iphone under iCloud i didn't have notes turned on.  So when i turned it on it said something about needing to create a @me address so i created one but now my notes are synched.  Am I  missing something?

    Hi,

Ok. So I just delete my icloud account. Then I set it up again. Then I go online and set up a new account or my old one with the old password?

If you set up a new account you won't have the data from the old one, the new account will be empty.

Sign out of your current account and then sign back in (in System Preferences>iCloud), do not open a new account if you want to use the data in the old account.

Thanks. Just to be clear - I am asked when I want to sign out to do I want to delete contects, calender etc form my mac. Do I say yes to all these? If so, will they reappear on my mac when I sign in?

They should but I would choose to backup first, do you have a backup?

yes I agreed to delete and it is unnerving - but like Csound1 says, do back up first.

One more thing - it is nearly a year since I did this and I am no techno so I can't quite remember why I did this but when I reconnected to iCloud I did not check the box for Notes. I think that notes must sync through my Bt Yahoo account. The only thing that matters to me is that since I did the above procedure Notes and everything else works perfectly syncronising between my iMac Mac Air and iPhone. Good luck

I know the answer to this:

On each device you have 2 separate Notes accounts:  One is "On My Mac" or "On my Phone." The other is "iCloud."  What is on your mac or phone will not sycn with iCloud.

This is so you can have some notes that don't sync if you dont want them too.

To see this on your iphone, open a note.  Then tap "Notes" in the upper left corner. THen tap "accounts" in the upper left corner. Now you will see the 2 accounts.

It's tedious, but you will have to copy the "On my iPhone" notes into the iCloud accounts. Then all will be fine.

I discovered this when i was trying to figure out why i couldn't put my Outlook email or contacts in the cloud.

After installing MacOS 10.8.3 syncing is now working again also with IMAP Path Prefix.

I can confirm that this issue has finally been fixed in 10.8.3! I can finally see my Notes in the Notes app

still doesn't work for me in 10.8.3

System Preferences > iCloud > check "Notes" and every single time it says "Notes can't be enabled at this time."

This has been an issue for a year now. Exhausting.

Confirmed. Works for me know on BlueHost with INBOX path prefix. Finally! It took long enough.

As i posted in another thread about this topic:

[my statement of it still not working...]

    Woops, spoke too soon!!

30 minutes later, while fussing with settings, i checked my iCloud preferences (didn't change anything!!) and it suddenly told me there was no networking. Funny, since i was using Safari and Facebook at that moment and my wireless signal was fine. But, after telling it to troubleshoot, it tells me that my configuration changed (no it didn't) and suddenly the new notes appeared at both the Mac Notes app and the iPhone Notes app. Hm. Tested again... and it apparently DOES WORK!

    FINALLY!!

Dunno what the problem was in getting synchronized, but it's doing what they say it's supposed to do, at last.

    YAY!!

    Guys,

Notes are finally working for me here. Don't forge to set your INBOX path under Advanced.

Guys, hope you can help.  I think I have synced Notes from my iPhone to Macbook Air and looked for them in the Mail app.  Only thing is that I don't appear to have a Reminders sub folder (where Notes are supposed to appear!) in my Mail side panel.

Any suggestions on how to get this to appear?

    Cheers!

    G

If you are using Mountain Lion Notes will appear in the Notes application, not reminders and not mail.

If you are not using Mountain Lion? why keep it a secret, tell us what you are using.

    It looks like this.

Not keeping any secrets lol!  I am VERY new to Apple and just getting my way around - how do I find out what I am using??

Would they still appear in Notes after having synced my iphone?

    Thanks
