You make some good points, Gabriel. One slightly different opinion I might add is that who they are messing with is the ever-important GROWTH/EXPANSION base. That is, customers who have NOT been "Applephiles" since the 80's or 90's but their first device was the iPhone a couple of years ago when more cellular providers could offer it. Then "synching" other iOS devices and OSX's seemed appealing, until 2 years later I have an iPad, Apple TV (peachMac and I'm sure the Apple Store said "Air Play enhancements are coming"), and just last fall got an iMac 27" intel core that was on sale. Still I dropped a pretty penny and haven't yet had it a YEAR!

THIS type of customer represents a huge growth potential to Apple.  But we are not the cool-aid drinkers of the old base. Others may have a little more patience than me but I'm wearing out the Apple products I have and moving on to the competition afterwards because Apple's greed-over-service is apparent by their actions.  And it now exceeds that of their competitors which is the antithesis of the whole Apple image- what set them apart.

Sure they will continue to be profitable but I believe their growth curve will definitely flatten. Because of consumers like me.

Try on you AppleTv next thing:   settings/AirPlay/ON.   mine was turn off.

I think this is shocking behaviour. I have so many Apple products now and this has absolutely sickened me. "It just works"- I don't think so. I fully expected the €2300 I spent on a MBP to run all features of Apple's latest OS some 20 odd months later. Several iPods, iPad, Apple TV's, Time Captsule, multiple iPhones and €€€€€'s on music and apps and this is how I am treated? Absolutely disgusted.

The Macs that can run AirPort Mirroring use a newer Intel CPU than yours and contains the Quicksync chipset. It is Intelsat invention for workable mirroring on computers as it pushes all graphics operation to the GPU rather than using the CPU. It also works under other names on PCs with the new chipset. The 20 month old machines don't get it.

You can buy AirParrot if you want but read the reviews before you do as there are several issues.

Was Apple supposed to use this new chipset in their computers and then turn off the Quiksync feature? Or give you a free computer so you would have the same hardware?

You really expected that the entire tech world would stop with the new developments until you were ready to pay for them

Re-read my post. I'm disgusted that Apple are making lame excuses to their customers for just being plain lazy. They could have done something here. AirParrot works doesn't it?

Without going into discussion about technical platform, the big issue is them pushing it as a general 10.8 feature, when it is only available to a limited number of users. Builting expectations which are not met in reality. :-(

danbanan66, you hit the nail squarely on the head, your statement is exactly the point.  It has nothing to do with the technical platform which is only an excuse.  The ONLY issue is that we were duped!

This is the 2nd time Apple really ****** me of this year. At first i was forced to move OS because of iCloud. I was an early user of the @mac.com service and paid for nearly 3 years for the service, after i have been forced to upgrade to a new os - otherwise i could not use icloud and my old email.

Now i upgraded to ML to use Airplay and my MBP end 2010 is not supported - Are u f**** kidding me?

I have started to use a PC Notebook recently at work again (Lenova X1) and it works like a charm (inc. the track pad). My iPad is out of date and so is my wife's Macbook. One thing is clear - after using apple products for more than 10 years and spending more than USD 18,000 (probably even more) I am no longer willing to spend a single cent on this crap anymore.

What the future holds:

New phone: Samsung

New tablet: Samsung

New Computers: PC
