Why is iCloud grayed out?

Why can't I select iCloud as a location when adding a calendar subscription using iCal? It will only allow me to use the "On My Mac" location, and iCloud is grayed out. My iCloud account is set on my iMac, and iCal is synching calendar events with no problem. I'm just trying to get my subscription calendars on iCloud.
