Installed 10.8.
Prompted to install Java SE 6 but the updater seems to time out and return a message that the software cannot be found (see attached).
Adobe CS5 products will not boot.

When my update had finished installation as soon as the new desktop loaded there was an update box saying for it to be installed... It has installed successfully, therefore try going to the apple logo > software update...
Tried this too. App store opened. No new updates.
Not the app store -.-
The apple logo on your statusbar (topbar) then software update not the app store.
Thanks for the continued help. Yeah I had to double check that too. Apple logo > Software Update now launches App store for me...
Go to Applications->Utilities->Java Preferences. when attempting to
open it will say you need JAVA installed. Pressed okay, searched for
package, downloaded and installed. JAVA works in Safari, MPLABX,
and I guess Photoshop CS6 still uses it as PS and its associated apps
work.

The issue is that I keep getting the following error:
The Software is currently unavailable.

What the heck is wrong with Apple - why the heck does the Apple->Software Update now go to the App store??? If that's the new place it's supposed to go to, then why the heck is there still an Apple->App Store?
I had the whole JDK wiped out by Mountain Lion's update. No idea where to get it from now :-(

the servers are getting hammered today.

I took a big gulp, downloaded it and ran it and the problem seems fixed.
I had been getting that same message as you all day.
10.8/Java/Adobe fail.
