Google "toolbar" has disappeared and "reader" has replaced it. How do I get my search bar back?

I am with you. I do not like this new update at all, what is Apple thinking? No need to combine the 2! This automatically updated for me yesterday, I did not catch it but will be sure to read all of the notes from now on. I want an option to be availble to go back to the old version should one desire to do so.

My Google search has also vanished from my toolbar. I thought it was something I did with my settings. Glad to know it was the update that did it. I WANT MY GOOGLE BACK!! I know, I know..........I should have read the update in greater detail. Oh well. I guess I just have to get used to it the way it looks now. When it comes to my computer, I don't mind updates as long as they don't change the layout too much. I don't like changes in the appearance of my toolbar/homepage!! Ugh!!!

My frustration with this is that safari used to auto-fill web addresses. I could enter "dropbox" and it would automatically take me to dropbox.com. Now it gives me a google search result. I do NOT like this change at all. Giving us the option to make it an address bar exclusively would be a very, very big improvement.

I agree, I really want the search function back!! now I have to open another page to get google search , rather than search on the one already open. Have enough issues with slowness, without having another page open

Did my part and left feedback. I really don't like this, mostly because I always hit apple tab and tab to start a new page and do a search and I keep doing that and getting nowhere. But other problems have already been mentioned.

This happened to me too when I performed the software updates. The suggested fixes dont work. I guess I will need to get used to using the address bar as both address and search bar. Seems counter intuitive at least for now. Will take some getting used to.

I have since (my gripes), upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion w/the new Safari, & the intergrated Adress/Seach function is the same.

It took a bit of getting used to, but I no longer miss the seperate Search!

The new features like `swipe between Tabs´ & `Notification Center´, and the `Show all Tabs´ more than make up for the Toolbar issue!

The addition of the `Auto-Fill´ & `Share´ buttons is cool.

Safari (& my Mac Mini´s overall performance), is much faster & `crisper´.

Apple´s Back On Track for me 😉

The way you replied to SWarnfeldt was not really called for. These forums are for help and support not unwarranted abuse or even abuse of any kind (this is against the terms of use). SWarnfeldt was just doing his/her best to provide a response. He/she had tried to help and you replied to his/her post with the unforgiving wrath of a bully.

What would be good here is for you to post a public apology to SWarnfeldt and what would be even better is if in future you refrained from cyber-bullying.

Noonan3 - I agree with Jason. You comments are completely out of line. I was the one who posted the question and I really appreciated SWarnfeldt's reply to me and it did help. Yes, it may have been around for a while but his/her answer helped. I hope you post an apology because it is well deserved and necessary.
