Choppy/jerky UI in Mountain Lion

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion running on a 2011 3.4GHz i7 iMac. I'm getting choppy/jerky animation in the UI. When I'm changing spaces, switching the notification center on and off or using the launch pad to show all windows open, I don't get smooth scrolling. Let me mention that it is not a clean install. I did repair disk permissions but no change. Does anyone witnessed similar behaviour?

Thanks!

I like you guys am also on this same computer as the OP but with 16 gig of Apple build to order ram installed and a 256 gig ssd with the 2 terabyte second hard drive. I'm in utter awe as to how horrible this operating system is running. I did a reinstall this morning of the OS and sadly, it's not a bad install but bad software that is being sent out to paying customers.

I am hopeful 10.8.1 comes out ASAP. And by that I mean yesterday.

Mine's not as bad as most people. I don't get a fullscreen flicker, just really laggy/choppy UI animations. But I had the same problems on Snow Leopard (which my MBP came with). Then Lion was an ok upgrade for me...didn't experience any major issues. I've just come to accept that Apple is really fighting for their release timelines now, so the initial release of a product isn't going to be as great as it looks on their WWDC slideshows (read: iPhone 4 antenna-gate).

It's like they never installed Mountain Lion on a Mac before they released it...

Mine's is also not as bad as the most here, but I have a laggy, choppy stuttering UI animations when I change a space or user and in mission control.

I did a clean install, but it doesn't help in my case.

The only thing that I found out is that the UI animations are choppy after wake up only, never after a restart.

I was experiencing the same issue, although the jumpiness of the UI was contained to the dock, notifications bar, spaces and expose. I have just resolved the issue by doing a clean install, although it took 4 and a half hours for 664.38Gb from a WD 1TB passport formatted for time machine, it was well worth it as it has completely fixed the issue! I recommend doing it.

I've tried 10.8.2. I have a 2.4GHz macbook white with shared 256mb 320M Graphics and 2GB ram. Haven't upgraded yet. Did a full install on a 16 GB sandisk cruzer blade usb and booted from it. Wow! It lags. Also NO VOLUME CONTROL. Glad I haven't upgraded yet.😁 I boot ubuntu 10.04.1LTS from a usb on this macbook as well. Mountain Lion is a Waste of time and money. Way to go apple!!!
