Looks like there are a few disks on sale at eBay

Lion was never sold or distributed on disc so whatever is being sold on eBay is counterfeited and more then likely won't work.

Thanks Shootist007. I did not know that . I wont be going there.

I only want Lion to use icloud ( in the Lion updates ) to sync my iphone calender with macbook without plugging it in ( email on imap already syncs ) so maybe its not worth the bother .

There is another thread on this topic and in that other thread it is staed that supposedly Lion can still be purchased by calling the Apple store phone ordering system. Not sure if it is the USB thumb drives they are selling or whether they give you a link to a download or how much it costs (the thumb was $69. Download $29).

So give the Apple store a call, that is the Web Apple store phone ordering system Not an Apple store in your area.

    Good Luck.

Called them and the answer is ..........drum role...............get to an apple store or authorised reseller and see if they have any thumb drives left.

    REALLY!!!!!!!

Well give it a few days then call again. If that fails then call customer services and talk to them.

    Good Luck.

Apple, IMHO, you got to love them, and take there junk, or leave them. I'm taking the last option. Never again.

I spoke to 2 people at sales. Both say you absolutely cannot buy Lion from Apple anymore anywhere.

Well that's to bad for those that didn't upgrade and now want or have to and can't run ML.

Fuuny part, not funny just an expression, is that you can still buy SL for the Apple store.

Good news! After speaking with a telephone sales rep from the Apple online store, my wife found out that they are out of the Lion thumb drives. But the increasingly elusive big cat is still available in SELECT local Apple Stores. My wife just called to tell me that she was able to find and buy a copy of Lion on a thumb drive at a local Apple Store. She's kinda thrilled to say the least.

My advice: if you need Lion, call your local Apple store pronto. We're particularly lucky, as in Orange County California, we have no less than four Apple Stores within 15 minutes of our home. I can only wish each of you the best of luck.

PS I sent a tweet to Phil Schiller's Twitter account begging (groveling shamelessly) to him to make Lion available at least on a thumb drive for people like us who can't make the jump to Mountain Lion. I can't guarantee anything, but I did this for you.

One other idea: I noted that at Apple Store Genus Bars, the Geniuses often have a portable hard drive with every version of OS-X available. Perhaps if you set a Genius Bar appointment and play nice, they might let you buy a copy (or even give you a copy) this way. No guarantees, but it's worth a try. I hope this helps!

I just called Apple - they opened it back up for Lion purchases last night at midnight EST.  I bought it over phone (800 692 7753) - they take your order and send you an email with a code to download it.
