Please anyone help, my google search that is normally in top right of screen has vanished. I have tried 'View-Customise Toolbar' and can see that the search bar is there to move but is greyed out. I can add other buttons and functions just not search... any ideas? (I have just put mountain lion though... could it be this?)   i've attached a pic of what my brower looks like.  (and the greyed out area of my customise tool) many thanks

Since you're running Mountain Lion, the address bar incorporates it. Type what you're searching for into it; if what you've entered isn't a website address, pressing Enter will perform a Google search.

Is there any way to get the search bar back?!?!?!  I liked having a separate searxh field so I could use the same search words in other tabs...  This new combination toolbar really *****!  Why can't they leave things alone when they are working just fine?  It is not like you need the extra room to see the address bar.... BTW Iam running Lion not Mt. Lion and this changed when the system did an update...

I liked the old way also, what Neil is saying is true however I want my two little windows like I had before.

is there no way of having two windows like prior to update?

Whats worse is they took away the orange re-search button, this is so **** annoying.

I did not upgrade to Mt Lion because I was happy with what I have... I cannot believe they just went and changed this in a routine software update!!! Dare I say that they are beginning to act like another software company a little further north??????

What the heck? The whole reason I switched to this browser was because the last one I used deleted the separate search box. Now Safari forces this change on me with no warning and no choice?

If there is no way to make the latest version have a separate search box, is there at least a way to revert to the last version of Safari and keep it at that?

Very disappointed in the new Safari. Combining the search window and the address window make the product less flexible and difficult to use. Please bring back the orange re-search button. That is a great feature and very useful.

I trying to adjust to this new version, but may be forced to Firefox.

I too want the old Google search window back, come on Apple, don't fix what ain't broke!

Sorry, Apple. Big mistake on dumping the Google window. Why ruin a good thing?

  • lindafromnull Level 1 (0 points)

Not only did they take away the second window search option, (big BOOBOO) if you go into preferences to delete history/web information, there are triple or quadruple the amount of spyware/tracking sites that there used to be.....And no way to reinstall older version, no matter what you try it does not work. Definitely won't bother to upgrade to Mountain Lion at this point.

So annoyed about this!!  Why get rid on the google search window in an update under "cloak and dagger" method!!

Cant change it back either GRRRR!!  Please change it back

  • Dennis_S Level 1 (5 points)

Send feedback to Apple. If enough people do they may change it back.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!  After spending hours trying to fix it myself, I came here, spent hours trying to log in with the id and password I've had for 10 years, then see there is no fix.  I HATE the new safari.  Now, when you want to search, you have to erase the address.  They have got to fix it or I'll go to chrome like my son wants me to do!  Firefox still has the search window too.
