Not receiving notification from Mail for Mountain lion Notification Center

I already have my icloud set up for my mac and iphone. It is also connected to my gmail connect receiving my mail correctly within the mail app on my mac. When I get a new email I see the badge on top of the mail app but I'm not receiving a notifcation message telling me so from notifcation center (on the mac).

I dont see the mail within the notifcation center either.

I went to the notifcation settings and mail is set to badge. Any know how to fix this?
