Upgrade to Mountain Lion from 10.5.8?
I have a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.5.8 and would like to upgrade to Mountain Lion. How can I do this?

You'll need to find and install a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD or 10.7 USB thumbdrive and then get the installer from the Mac App Store. The installer can't be downloaded or run from 10.5.8, and if run from a compatible OS, won't upgrade the 10.5.8 system.

One thing to add though is that you computer would have to meet the requirmetns listed here:

Dont' bother on a 10.5 era issued Mac, it's too dated and run slow as well as need more RAM, 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 is the best you should do for that machine.
10.7/10.8 won't run PPC based software of 10.5/10.6 neither.
Save 10.8 for a new Mac instead.
