Belkin USB hub and Mountain Lion Problem

I'm using an external power supply.

I plugged two HDDs: they load for a while, then nothing happens.

I plugged an external audio card / dj console: usb led is flashing = no usb connection

One more problem: bluetooth doesn't work! (Bluetooth not available). It works only for a while when I reboot.

I unplugged my Belkin and plugged in another hub. My bluetooth now functions and all USB equipment works as it should. A 9.99$ hub is working better than the 40$ Belkin.

I have a feeling that the bluetooth problem maybe associated to the USB issue.

Thanks, all. I filed a bug about the problem. Now, it's just a matter of waiting for a fix. Or, as some of you have already done, buying a USB hub that uses a different chipset. 🙂

Belkin seems to be saying that, to fix this, you should change hubs.

I'd strongly suggest investing in a cheapie hub (I got a seven connection USB hub from eBay for about $7, shipping included). I've been using one for three years straight, now.

I just wanted to state that I am having the same problem as well. Since I have a retina Mac i guess its time to buy a USB 3.0 hub.

I am experiencing the same problems; not only with my cheapy hub, but also with my Canon 1100D camera, which isn't recognised and causes errors. Here is the log dump because I think that this one actually contains some useful information for L1 tec support.

I'm having the same issue with a 7-port cheap GE hub attached to a Late 2010 MacPro. No devices recognized despite restarts, unplugging...

I've the same issue with the HUB embedded in my Samsung C23A750X monitor.

With Lion was running correctly.

Now, after the upgrade: ML says the HUB has no power to turn on the connected devices... Western Digital HDD, Apple Keyboard, Wacom digitizer...

The HUB is powered (by the monitor itself), all the devices are turning on... after a while the Mac turn them off!!!

I'm really unsatisfied and unhappy!!

That's probably a completely unrelated bug. What is the exact error message you're seeing?

As an update, I also opened a ticket at Belkin at the very begining of this discussion and never even had a reply back!

Anyway, I got another hub, Belkin 7-port ultra slim (first I want to avoid Belkin, but this was the only powered hub in the local store).
This one is working perfect since Jul, 27.

Is there any chance of this being fixed? If not, can we start a list of USB hubs (with model numbers) that DO work under Mountain Lion?

Good luck coming up with a list of hubs compatible with ML; at this point, there are several hundred. Since you're rightfully suspicious about Belkin's ability to provide you with a hub that will work, I suggest purchasing one that comes with a money back guarantee. I wouldn't hold your breath until Belkin comes up with a solution.
