wrong Apple ID appears when updating

When updating apps, the Apple ID used to purchase the app comes up, not the account you are currently logged in with. If you purchased the App using a different Apple ID, you will need that password to update the app.

Matthew97, my email was hacked and the account was closed so I can't go in and change it. I too opened a new apple account, but the old email keeps popping up so I can't get in to update apps. Any ideas?

Make sure you don't have any other accounts open on your device.

those who are trying to updates apps and the appstore keep asking the wrong id

Step no 1 Make A backup Of the iDevice AnD then Uncheck All Apps then you have to sync your iphone and then

you check all your apps again and sync your iPhone your iDevice is ready to do

hancockFloyd, have uu figured out how solve the problem? s i am having the exact same issue, where i cannot access my old email address anymore which means i cannot update or download. and i dont have an iphone to do what ziashahid said to do please help me

Yes.

You dont need to acces the email acount.

Log into your AppleID and change iyour AppleID from the old email to a new email.

Hey Matthew, Any workaround to the old user ID popping up. I have tried everything in the last 2 hours and cannot get past the old ID popping up. I cannot find anyplace to acccess it or change it. I sign out and sign back in with the new ID showing. I change the passwords and when I go to update the apps, there's the old ID staring at me waiting for a password I cannot re-create. What a nightmare.

Hi I have the same issues too. Can't sign in with old Apple ID to change email account and can't update apps too. How to change Apple ID for existing apps? I don't have iPhone to syn too.

There is no way to change apple id for already installed apps, if you do not have password to the account. Only way around is to delete those apps and redownload them to new apple id.

I'm having this same issue. I cannot remember the old password to my former Apple ID, and there doesn't seem to be a way to merge the old one with the new onw. It's incredible that Apple has not thought to set something up like that for this prevalent problem.

Question: If I go ahead and delete the apps I downloaded with my old Apple ID, will have to also repurchase them too?

Which is why you should not get a ne AppleID.

Simply update your AppleID simply new information.

Yes.

Just update your old AppleID and use that.

This suition may appare when you install some application which you havent downloaded from your account. I am not sure perhaps u are using cracked. Confirm that you have downloaded this app via your own account.

not sure if you are still experiencing this issue...I was able to resolve on mine and my wife's device by forcing a software update (currently running IOS 6.1.3) after updating my Apple ID under Setting: Itunes and App Store.🙂
