Jul 27, 2012 8:09 PM in response to arzboyby kev young,I just tried this too and it worked, all it took was to open Mail and let it refresh the accounts. Can't understand at all as to why, but glad this is settled. Thanks for the tip.

Jul 29, 2012 10:32 AM in response to arzboyby Geibgb,Well, open mail preferences, go to the Mailbox menu and choose "rebuild". Then quit mail.app and start notes:) Now it's working without any problems. That's a disadvantage of upgrading, if running a clean installation, you can avoid many such troubles.

Jul 29, 2012 6:14 PM in response to keithgeeby LexieCat,Rebuilding didn't help for me, but what did work was disabling syncing for Notes in Exchange, closing Mail, re-enabling syncing of Notes in Exchange, and then reopening Mail.
No more crashing.

Aug 1, 2012 10:43 AM in response to arzboyby Digitalabs,My MBP (late 2008) started crashing since I installed OSX Lion. Then switched to OSX Mountain Lion and everything seemed to be working fine. I ran disk utility and it repaired minor problems. Today it crashed 5 times and counting.

Aug 5, 2012 1:30 AM in response to Digitalabsby stormtroopar,I try the whole cache delete someone suggest earlier and restarted. It helped but did not work. I got Notes to open this time and can see the Notes I made in iOS device, then it crash again. Then for some reason, not having read the rest of this thread, want to try the new Mail program to see what's different and maybe see the notes in there like before. Play with Mail, then I try opening Notes again, and Bam, it now works...
Then I see all the post you guys made about Mail updating the database. Now my notes work.. Thanks for all the info! It is pretty stupid how we have to open Mail for Notes to work and sync. But at least glad it does work now. Apple, pls fix things like this.
Thanks.
