i have tried several times resoting a ipod that someone gave me and it keeps on showig me error 1413

Have you tried each and every suggestion in this Apple support document yet?
Error 1413 when Updating or Restoring an iPod

I'm having the same problem. iPod Classic 2009 160gb using Windows 7 Laptop 64 bit using iTunes 11. Cannot perform action 1 as I cannot get iTunes to update to version 11.0.1 despite multiple attempts.
