my ipod nano is frozen

Just recently bought a Ipod Nano, a friend downloaded music on it. I played Ipod until battery was completely dead. It never came back! Plugged into charger on wall socket and in to computer. It is frozen! Tried holding pause button and neg. volume button at same time. No luck. Any suggestions

If you just bought it, it is under warranty (for one year), so in the worst case, you'll need to contact Apple to get it replaced.

You are using an Apple USB dock connector cable to connect it to a power adapter and USB port on computer? When you say it is

completely dead. It never came back... It is frozen

are you saying it does not charge when connected to power and the screen is blank (not on)?

Tried holding pause button and neg. volume button at same time.

This is a current iPod nano (?), because it does not have a physical "pause button." This is the procedure to Reset an iPod, which you should try while it is connected to power.

Thanks for the site to check my Ipod Nana! I tried pressing the pause and neg. volume buttons at same time; both while it was hooked to computer, wall charger, and itunes! Unfortunately, nothing happens! No charge, no apple, NO nothing! I received it as a gift for this past Christmas, enjoying it very much and miss it! Can you tell me if Apple will take it back without a receipt or proof of purchase and how I would go about returning it! Thanks- This is first time on Support page, so forgive me if I don't follow protocol!

I believe Apple uses the iPod's serial number (which is on the outer surface of iPod) to determine the purchase date. So you you should be OK without a receipt.

If you have a nearby Apple Store, you should make a reservation at the Genius Bar (which is staffed by Apple's tech support), and take your nano there. You can then see about getting a replacement, if defective. You can make a reservation using the store's web page.

Otherwise, you can contact Apple tech support through the Contact Us link at the bottom right corner of this web page.
