upgraded to Mountain Lion fan is constantly running

MBP 2011

Upgraded with Mountain Lion and now the fan in constantly running. I've checked the activity monitor and there is no application taking over a few %.

I don't have anything running other than Chrome, finder, activity monitor, drop box.

I tried the the SMC reset suggested in other posts but that didn't solve the problem.

After shutdown and power up, the fan is off but then it slowly builds to full speed

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

The view you provide only includes your processes. In Application Monitor, choose All Processes, sorted by decreasing CPU% (click on the columne label a few times), and click on CPU on the bottom bar to show the totals for CPU. Post back and someone may have some ideas.

PS It is normal for the system to be busy for awhile after an installation, e.g. reindexing your data. But it should settle down after awhile.

It's Chrome (actually almost any Google software) as they install a root auto-update background process that's a pain to uninstall as any of the Google software just reinstalls it.

This problem has appeared before here.

but it’s safe to assume that a Mac version of Google’s Chrome Browser will likely use the same update policy and that could hurt the browser’s ability to entice users into switching.

Of course not to mention that Google is recording everything your doing and doing who knows what with the data, at least with ISP recording a warrant has to be issued.
